Swiss Laundry Ltd, based near Cambridge, has been providing commercial laundry services and linen hire to hospitality, tourism, restaurant, and academic customers throughout the East of England for more than 100 years.
A family-run business throughout the generations, Swiss Laundry made the bold move to invest £6m in a new laundry site, moving from its established, historic home to new premises in Papworth.
The aim was to increase capacity to meet growing demand and reach ambitious targets, whilst building one of the most technically advanced commercial laundries in the UK if not Europe.
Swiss Laundry’s commercial director briefed Speaking PR to devise a launch PR campaign, to ensure key stakeholders, customers and the media were made fully aware of this new era for Swiss Laundry, while honouring its history and roots in Cambridge.
A VIP launch event was staged, giving customers, suppliers, stakeholders and members of the business and trade press a first look at the premises through behind-the-scenes tours.
As well as planning and co-ordinating the event, Plain Speaking PR prepared a comprehensive press pack and lined up media interviews and photo opportunities on the day. The launch achieved extensive press coverage, featuring key messages about investment, the enviable technology installed and the owners’ commitment to sustainability and the local area.
Shown on the day, and shared online, Plain Speaking PR also project managed a celebratory video for Swiss Laundry, produced by Copper Crayon. The video looks to the future and depicts the new laundry build process while honouring Swiss Laundry’s long heritage.
