The regeneration of Woodbridge’s historic waterfront drew a step closer on Tuesday 9 May 2017. The Whisstocks Development in Woodbridge marked a key milestone, with the ‘topping out’ of the Deben Wharf building on the Town’s historic waterfront.
Developed by our client FW Properties, Deben Wharf is an outstanding, mixed-use development of apartments, restaurants, shops and community buildings. The scheme is part of FW Properties’ Whisstocks Development, which also comprises nearby Nunn’s Mill in Quayside, completed in April.
On 9 May, Julian Wells, Director at FW Properties and James Wilson from contractors RG Carter, welcomed representatives from Investec, the bank financing the project, and members of the Woodbridge Riverside Trust and Town Council – including new Mayor Clare Perkins. Joining the guests for this informal celebration were journalists from BBC Radio Suffolk and the East Anglian Daily Times.
Julian Wells said: “Every new home or commercial building we are creating here is unique to its setting, and the Whisstocks Development is exceptional in that it integrates the contemporary with the historic in a way that is both original and sympathetic. We pride ourselves on the luxury homes we create, but we’re particularly proud to be breathing new life into a site that the whole community of Woodbridge will be able to enjoy. I’m delighted that colleagues from Woodbridge Town Council and the Riverside Trust were with us for the topping out. They have been superb advocates for and supporters of the Whisstocks Development; it was a pleasure to share this celebration with them.”
James Wilson, Director at R G Carter said: “We have a strong connection to Suffolk, having delivered a range of projects in the county over recent years, so it’s great for the whole team to mark such an important milestone here in Woodbridge. This is a multi-faceted project and a uniquely challenging site; we’re extremely proud to be part of its transformation and look forward to celebrating full project completion this summer.”
The Whisstocks Development is on course for completion later in this summer. A third of the new homes at Nunn’s Mill and Deben Wharf have been sold, and discussions are underway with a range of potential commercial occupiers for the Chandlery restaurant and shops.
We were delighted to support FW Properties with event planning, stakeholder liaison and media relations in support of the topping out.
