Fountain Partnership, a Norwich-based digital marketing agency has achieved massive growth in the past year, with February 2017 being its most successful month ever.
Fountain Partnership, founded almost nine years ago by Rebecca Lewis Smith, Marcus Hemsley, Rob Morley and Laura Jennings, has developed a unique, numbers-based methodology which takes the risk out of digital marketing for its clients. This approach led to Fountain winning the Google Premier Partner Award for Best Search Performance last year, beating thousands of marketing agencies from across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Fountain has had a hugely successful six months. The financial year ending March 2017 will record a turnover of £800,000; no mean feat. But, based on the company’s current level of work, Fountain is predicting a turnover of £1.5 million for the year ending March 2018, with £1.2million already secured in contracts.
February 2017 saw a turnover of £162,000 compared to £42,000 for the same period in 2016; the most successful month in Fountain’s history.
“I believe our recent growth is partially due to winning the prestigious international Google award, but mainly down to our focus on forecasting to take the risk out of digital marketing and delivering exceptional returns for our clients,” says Marcus Hemsley, creative director of Fountain Partnership. “Our transparent approach means that clients can see a clear return on their digital marketing investment: consequently, they are increasing what they spend with us to generate more enquiries and sales. Several of our clients have experienced rapid growth over the past year and two have been acquired by larger groups. These organisations have subsequently employed Fountain to help them grow even further.”
In the past six months the Fountain team has increased from 16 FTE to 27 FTE and has moved to new premises to accommodate this growth.
“We’ve been lucky enough to recruit some real superstars,” says Rebecca Lewis Smith, managing director of Fountain. “As well as talented graduates from the University of East Anglia we’ve attracted some experienced marketers from London who want to move to Norfolk for a better quality of life.
“We were previously based in shared offices on Palace Street in Norwich but moved to our new premises, the former GMB Union building on Bethel Street, on 1 January 2017. Some people may think it’s strange that a digital marketing agency has set up home in a Grade Two Listed building but love the juxtaposition between heritage and technology. We also now have 2500 square feet of office space over three floors and a great working environment for our growing team.”
On Friday 10 March, leading on from Fountain’s Google Premier Partner Award for Best Search Performance, Marcus Hemsley formed part of a panel of experts speaking at Google’s new UK headquarters in King’s Cross, London. He shared the stage with a spokesperson from Sir Alan Sugar’s Agency, Climb Online, started by the 2015 Winner of the Apprentice, Mark Wright. With an audience of senior Google employees as well as agency representatives from across the UK, Marcus was invited to talk about the rapid changes occurring in digital marketing, but urged people to stick to the fundamentals and invest in more accurate forecasting.
“Having awarded our unique approach to digital marketing, Google were keen to have me speak to their people as well as other agencies. It was an honour to be asked and really puts Norwich on the map as a hub of digital excellence,” continues Marcus Hemsley. “Working closely with Google has given us great insights to refine our approach. We take regular trips to Google HQ with our clients so they can access essential data first hand and benefit from some of the leading minds and expertise in digital technology.”
