On Thursday 10 November Plain Speaking PR Agency reached the milestone of ten years in business and we celebrated with a party at intu Chapelfield.
House of Fraser were kind enough to let us take over the lovely Café Zest for the evening, and more than 50 guests attended including clients, business contacts and local media.
Plain Speaking was set up in 2006 by managing director Pippa Lain-Smith. After a PR career working in-house and within Norwich and London agencies, Pippa took a year out to launch a vehicle wrapping franchise with Totally Dynamic, before starting her own agency. The Plain Speaking name takes inspiration from her name.
Ten years on, the business now employs three permanent senior PR professionals, with the additional support of consultants working on dedicated client projects.
This year has marked a significant shift in how the business operates; adopting new agile working practices to enable the senior team to work remotely. By making the best use of the latest mobile technology, telecoms and IT systems, Plain Speaking is now able to operate as a virtual team with bases peppered throughout Norfolk and Suffolk.
Pippa explains: “What I’m really excited about is by changing the way we work, we’ve attracted top talent from across the East of England. Plain Speaking is made up of experienced PR professionals who deliver a consistent, high-standard of client service, but without having to making a daily commute into Norwich. The transition has been really smooth. We’ve retained city centre meeting facilities and see clients face-to-face more than ever at their premises, gaining a greater understanding of their businesses and strengthening client relationships.
“PR is a fast paced, ever-changing industry but one thing that hasn’t changed over the years is the skill and ability to forge great relationships, be it with clients, business stakeholders or the media. And that’s where I think we excel. We’re proud that a lot of our clients have been with us for many years and that we’ve supported them in their growth and success.
“As any small business owner will tell you, it’s sometimes a tough journey but I couldn’t be prouder of the agency and my wonderful team. I’d like to thank all those who have supported us over the first ten years.”
Sheridan Smith, marketing manager at intu Chapelfield, said: “We’ve worked with Plain Speaking for eight years, and in that time they’ve never once grown complacent. They are a creative, smart team who consistently work hard to ensure we get the best return on our PR investment. I congratulate Pippa and the team on what’s been a fantastic 10 years in business and all the best for the future.”
Thanks to everyone who joined us for our birthday celebrations and here’s to another fantastic ten years.
